Jorge originally hails from Cuba where he was a 25 year veteran of the Cuban National Team and a two-time Olympian (2004 & 2008) in the Men's 3 metre and Men's 3 metre Synchro events, placing 4th in Athens in 2004 in the Synchro 3 metre.  Prior to moving to Victoria, Jorge was a Cuban Junior National Team coach from 2010 - 2014.  Since 2014, Jorge has been coaching in Victoria and has coached several athletes to Junior National podium finishes and placed athletes in Diving Plongeon Canada's High Performance Athlete Development (HPAD) program.   In his free time Jorge enjoys watching Cuba's national pastime, baseball.

A 2021 Tokyo Olympian in the Women's 10 metre platform event, Celina brings a wealth of experience to Dive Victoria athletes.  Celina has coached throughout her diving career and is looking forward to introducing a new generation of Victoria divers to the sport of diving.  As an athlete, Celina was a 16 year veteran of the Canadian National Diving team and was the 2018 Women's National 10 metre champion and 16-time National medallist, including 4-times national champion.  Internationally, Celina won 10 medals, including gold at the 2018 Rostock Grand Prix in Germany and placed 11th at the 2016 World Cup in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, securing an Olympic spot for Canada at the Rio Olympics.  Away from the pool, Celina works with CSI-Pacific and you will often find her at her favourite place in the world, the beach.

Lu was selected at age 12 for the Chinese National Diving team and competed in various national and international competitions as a diver. His coaching career started with the diving team of Tsinghua University in Beijing, followed by coaching  the Shandong Provincial Diving Team (2002-2004). He was the head coach of the Taiwan National Diving team (2004-2007). In 2007 he moved to Canada and coached for the Edmonton Kinsmen Diving Club (2007-2011).  He plans to compete at the world Masters competition in 2027. Lu currently works as a full-time transit operator and line trainer for BC Transit Victoria, and enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and three daughters.

RYAN GROVER

Coach

Ryan was a member of the Canadian diving team at the 2015 Junior Pan American Championship in Cuba where he won bronze in the 3m synchronized event. During his 12 year career as an athlete he competed in several international competitions including Italy, Germany, and Russia and won several national medals both at the junior and senior levels. After his retirement as an athlete in 2020, Ryan has been contributing to the diving community both as a coach and a judge. He is an active official at BC competitions and is working towards a national level certification. Outside of diving, Ryan has studied chemistry and is working as a brewer for Brash Monkey Brewing. He loves experimenting with brewing different meads.

CURTIS FROHLOFF

Coach

Curtis has been involved in the diving community for 13 years. He was born in Victoria and started diving at Saanich Commonwealth Pool and then continued his training with White Rock Divers for seven years reaching the national level. His experience as an athlete and his passion for the sport led him to coaching. Curtis has been coaching youth learn to dive classes for the past six years with White Rock Divers and more recently has started coaching with Dive Victoria. His coaching style is focused on building fundamentals, progressing skills based on individual attributes and making sure kids are having fun. Curtis is a civil engineering student at UVIC and in his free time he loves to rock climb, previously representing Team BC at nationals. He also likes to hike, golf and is working on building his culinary skills!  

ANGELA CHIRICO

Coach

Angela began her diving journey at age 10 with White Rock Divers. After one year of recreational diving, she moved to the North Shore and dove with the North Shore Dolphins Dive Club for five years. She joined their high-performance team when she was thirteen and competed in competitions such as the BC Games, Novice Nationals, and BC Provincials. Angela became a coach in 2018 and has since coached for the North Shore Dolphins, Cruisers Aquatics and Coquitlam Sharks. When she wasn’t coaching, she worked as a lifeguard at Camp Fircom and held various nannying positions. She is currently in her final year of her Bachelor of Education program at UVIC. Angela brings a holistic approach to coaching, where she focuses on developing her athletes not just physically, but also mentally, emotionally, and even socially. In her free time, Angela enjoys playing video games, reading novels and comic books, doing photography, and swimming.
